Boccini,
born in Deruta (Perugia), after having obtained a degree at the Academy
of Fine Arts of Perugia, in the Sculpture department, directed his attention
to a more profound study of the technology of ceramics, and to the search
for new types of clay, new enamels and natural colors. Experimentation
is always present in his works, with various mixtures of metals and soils,
enamels and natural oxidants, making his works unique and sometimes non-repeatable.
His training is of a classical nature in the decoration and painting of
ceramics, but contemporary in the area of sculpture. He often combines
various materials like iron, wood, bronze etc to create sculptures with
interesting aesthetic results. Various travels and cultural exchange programs,
as well as teaching assignments undertaken in Italy and abroad, have brought
him today to have full knowledge of almost all the techniques existing
in the world of ceramics. With this knowledge, he also creates performances
or happenings around Europe. Since 1995 he is the head of the programs
on Ceramics in Italy and Europe with various courses financed by the F.S.E.,
in 1997 he created the C.L.S. (Free Experimental Ceramics), and in 2000
he created along with other artists and master ceramicists a School of
Ceramic Art. He has participated and continues to participate in exhibitions, meetings,
festivals and art shows throughout world. |
